Crowned with two bells in two separate towers , located at 58 meters high. It is the largest church built by the French. In the nineteenth century was the tallest building in the city (currently this privilege it has Bitexco Tower ) . Although at first glance the exterior facade and brick walls seem not be fooled , it is actually Vietnamese granite which were attached French red tiles ( from Marseille ) today to retain their original color. The large rose window and the windows of the basilica were originally adorned with stained glass windows of Chartres , which unfortunately were destroyed during World War II . The Ho Chi Minh City decided to replace these windows for glass.

Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral

The Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral (Catedrala Ortodoxa) is a Romanian Orthodox cathedral in Timisoara of the Transylvania region, in western Romania. The building was built between 1936 and 1940. It is dedicated to the Three Holy Hierarchs, Saints Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom. It has 11 towers, of which the central and the highest has a height of 96 meters.

The building's style is Neo-Brâncovenesc style, unusual among mid-20th century Romanian Orthodox buildings. The original style was based on Romanian Orthodox, late Renaissance, Ottoman, and Byzantine architecture elements. Elements such as niches under the eaves, ribbed star vaulting in the interior, and lacquered discs in a variety of colors, can also be seen in the Cozia Monastery or Prislop Monastery. They were both built in the 14th century, based on guidelines by the monk Nicodim of Prilep. The church's interior and exterior paintings were created by the painter Atanasie Demian. The difficult period that followed the structure's completion, that of Romania during World War II, prevented the paintings from being finished with the building. Demian's work went on for many years after World War II.
