Behold Istanbul's spectacular Sakirin Mosque. Believed to be the first mosque partly designed by a woman, it combines a sleek modernist style with traditional flourishes.

The dome of rock is an islamic shrine mosque which is situated in temple mount in the old city of Jerusalem. The roiginal dome collapsed in 1015 and was rebuilt 1022-23. The dome of the rock is in its core one of the oldest extant works of Islamic architecture.
